The Tuscany Tourism Promotion project was born with the aim of providing two digital platforms. The first is designed to manage the planning, validation, and implementation of tourism strategies and initiatives in the Tuscany Region. The second aims to make the results and progress related to planning easily accessible to citizens.
The primary objective of translating complex planning processes from paper to digital format has been achieved through the design of a user-friendly experience.
The paramount goal was to digitize and share best practices across a network of 98 territorial areas
The regional tourism planning protocol enables the design and development of strategies that are, on the one hand, consistent with the specific characteristics of the different territorial areas; and on the other hand, the creation of an integrated regional project that is effective and comprehensive in various aspects related to the tourism offer. Our work has focused on analyzing existing paper-based protocols and optimizing them for digital transfer.
The client and our team collaborated on an analysis and optimization project to streamline paper-based protocols and data flows.
Based on our analysis, we've redesigned the planning questionnaires for all 90 areas.
As part of our agile design process, we developed a component library to streamline and standardize the creation of questionnaires and data collection procedures.
The results obtained from the design platform were ultimately organized and presented on a public platform, both desktop and mobile, dedicated to data visualization and the promotion of the formulated strategies and initiatives
The tourism planning platform is the tool that enables the 90 involved areas to synchronize closely with the territory's promotion strategies; the UX design, on one hand, has focused on providing a familiar experience to users, characterized by different levels of tech-savvyness and mostly accustomed to using paper-based planning tools; on the other hand, on offering a gradual but effective digital transition in terms of new possibilities offered.
The public platform, available both on desktop and mobile, is dedicated to data visualization of all tourism strategies, initiatives, and products developed at a regional and local level. A tab-based user experience has been designed to provide the simplest navigation experience for the user; the UI design is consistent with the Toscana Promozione brand and is minimal, so as not to conflict with the detail offered by the data visualization.
